New Zealand became the world champions of Test cricket

 

New Zealand became the world champions of Test cricket by defeating India by 8 wickets in the final of the World Test Championship. 

The final of the first Test Championship was played in Southampton in which New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. 

The Kiwi bowlers did not allow the Lions to play openly outside and the Indian batsmen could score only 217 runs in the first innings ahead of the brilliant bowling of Kyle Jameson. 

New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson topped the list with 5 wickets, followed by Indian batsmen Ajinkya Rahane (49) and Virat Kohli (44).  

The New Zealand batsmen could not take much advantage of the low score and managed to take a lead of only 32 runs in the first innings and the entire team was all out for 249.

New Zealand's Devon Conway (54) and Kane Williamson (49) were the standout batsmen in the innings while Mohammad Shami (4) was the leading bowler for India.

In India's second innings, the situation of the batsmen was even worse, and the entire team was all out for only 170 runs. 

Apart from Rishbh Punt's 41 and Rohit Sharma's 30, no player has been able to make a significant impact, while this time Tim Southee has taken the most 4 wickets. 

The Kiwis set a target of 139 for victory, which they achieved at a loss of just two wickets.

Captain Ken Williamson scored 52 in a nerve-wracking match while Ross Taylor played a memorable innings of 47 to lead the team to victory.

Kyle Jamieson was declared the man of the match for taking a total of 7 wickets.

Note tNote that in Test cricket, matches consist of 5 days, however, a reserve day was set for the final, and this match was decided on the same reserve day which was the sixth day of the match.
